We love the magnificent trees of Albury for their beauty and environmental importance - regulating climate, reducing pollution and producing oxygen.

Our trees and native vegetation are valuable assets that also underpins our cultural identity as a community, for both Indigenous peoples and their relationship with the land; and for the many residents and visitors who enjoy the wonder and beauty of our natural environments.

While we manage our street and parkland trees, you’re responsible for taking care of trees on your property. It’s important to understand that you may require approval for pruning or removal of trees on your property. Find out more at alburycity.nsw.gov.au/environment/trees-and-vegetation/trees.

Roadside vegetation is home to some of Albury’s most important and unique plants and animals.

To protect our environmental areas, we ask that activities such as mowing, clearing or general “tidying up” are not undertaken on our roadsides.

Many of our native animals such as lizards, birds, and smaller insects rely on dead and fallen timber for habitat. Dead trees often contain hollows which provide homes for some of our local threated species such as the Squirrel Glider.

Firewood on Council owned and managed land is not up for grabs, in fact its collection is prohibited for many reasons including the impact on our biodiversity and other safety risks.
