Lavington Swim Centre Redevelopment
We're excited to announce plans to redevelop the much-loved Lavington Swim Centre with modern aquatic facilities to better serve our community's needs.
About the Project
Lavington Swim Centre is approaching the end of its serviceable life, and planning is now underway to deliver a modern replacement facility that meets current and future community needs. This redevelopment aligns with AlburyCity’s Aquatics Strategy and was endorsed by Council at its meeting on 23 October 2023.
The replacement of the facility will provide inclusive, accessible, and flexible spaces for the whole community. It will support increased participation in sport and recreation, attract regional events, and improve operational efficiency. Key features will include enhanced spectator areas, family-friendly amenities, and a focus on universal design principles.
Project benefits include:
- Promoting increased physical activity and healthy lifestyles
- Meeting the recreational and competitive needs of local and regional communities
- Supporting inclusiveness through improved accessibility for older adults, families, people with disabilities, and all genders
- Attracting regional and state-level sporting events
- Generating economic benefits through increased event and visitor activity
- Ensuring compliance with modern sporting guidelines and building codes
- Enhancing safety and efficiency for staff and user groups
