Main Sewer Pump Station and Rising Mains
We’re building a new sewage pump station at our Wodonga Place depot and upgrading sewer pipelines to the Waterview treatment plant to support our growing city for the next 100 years.
About this Project
In the next 15 years, our water and wastewater infrastructure will be reaching capacity as it meets the demands of our growing city. This means we need to deliver key elements of its future infrastructure within the next five years.
AlburyCity’s Main Sewer Pump Station collects and pumps away about 95% of all sewer flows within the city. Built in 1916, it is located in the historic red brick building at Council’s main works depot on the corner of Smollett Street and Wodonga Place.
This project will upgrade the pumping capacity at the MSPS site while simultaneously continuing to service our growing city. Once completed, the new infrastructure will have pumping capacity of up to 3000 litres/second - that’s an Olympic-sized swimming pool every eight minutes! It will support the city for the next 100 years.
A new 5.5km sewer main will connect the main sewer pump station to the Waterview treatment plant which, following an upgrade at the plant, will also enable the eventual decommissioning of the Kremur St wastewater treatment plant.
In July 2024, NSW Public Works was appointed to assist with the design, approvals and construction of the project.
It is proposed the project will go to tender mid-2026 with construction due to start late-2026.
