Parking Fine Reporting

Under the Fines Act 1996 and Fines Regulation 2020 NSW government agencies that issue parking fines are required to report specific information regarding penalty notices (fines) where no physical notification was attached to a vehicle.

From 2025, a new reporting requirement has been introduced to improve transparency and accountability in the way parking fines are issued in NSW.

In some situations, parking officers may issue a fine without placing a physical notice on the vehicle - for example, due to safety concerns, extreme weather, or if the vehicle is not accessible.

To ensure this process remains fair and transparent, government agencies are now required to publish regular reports that show:

  • The total number of parking fines issued
  • How many were issued without a notice attached to the vehicle
  • The reasons notices weren’t left
  • The number of fines that were later cancelled or deemed invalid

We encourage the community to view these reports and learn more about how parking fines are managed.
