To protect and maintain public and environmental health in the Albury Local Government Area, Albury City Council has developed its On-site Sewage Management Plan in line with NSW Office of Local Government regulatory reforms which requires all onsite systems to be monitored by local council.

An On-site Sewage Management System (OSSM) refers to a wastewater system situated within a property's boundary that treats the wastewater generated from the property, and is not serviced by Council's sewerage infrastructure. If the system is incorrectly maintained or overworked they may fail and cause environmental and public health concerns.
