The AlburyCity Social History Collection, meticulously cared for by the Albury LibraryMuseum, is a treasure trove of over 30,000 items that vividly tell the stories of Albury and its surrounding region. Our dedicated team is committed to the preservation and stewardship of these invaluable pieces of our shared heritage.
A Refurbished Home for our Heritage and Dedicated Digitisation Hub
We are thrilled to announce the recent refurbishment and re-working of the AlburyCity Museum Collection Storage Facility. This significant project has enabled us to make better use of our current footprint, ensuring ongoing best practice in museum collection management and facilitating exciting collection development opportunities. The refurbishment incorporates improved and expanded storage solutions, a dedicated collection quarantine space, and a re-worked collection workshop space. We are immensely grateful for the partial funding provided by a Create NSW Grant, which made this vital enhancement possible.
Complementing this, we have established a dedicated digitisation hub. This hub is a key initiative of the AlburyCity/Greater Hume Museum Advisor Program, focusing on enhancing collection management and digitisation capabilities across regional museums. This vital resource will lead to the addition of over 400 objects to the Collections & Stories website and contribute to a regional collections database hosted by Greater Hume Shire. This investment ensures the long-term care, accessibility, and expanded reach of the AlburyCity Social History Collection for generations to come.
