Albury community invited to unite in remembrance this ANZAC Day

The Albury community is invited to come together this ANZAC Day to reflect, remember and honour the service and sacrifice of all who have served.

22 Apr 2026

ANZAC Day is one of the nation’s most significant occasions, marking the anniversary of the first major military action fought by Australian and New Zealand forces during the First World War. It is a time for quiet reflection, gratitude and community connection.

A series of commemorative events will be held across Albury on Saturday 25 April, providing opportunities for residents to pay their respects throughout the day.

Proceedings will begin with the Dawn Service at 5.30am at Monument Hill. A free shuttle bus will operate from the SS&A Club car park from 5am to assist attendees. Seating at the Dawn Service is limited, and bookings are essential.

The ANZAC Day March will commence at 9am, stepping off from Macauley Street, travelling along Dean Street and concluding in Elizabeth Street.

A Morning Service will follow at 10am at Monument Hill.

Albury Mayor Kevin Mack said ANZAC Day remains a deeply important occasion for the local community.

“ANZAC Day is a time for us all to pause and reflect on the courage, service and sacrifice of those who have served our country,” Mayor Mack said.

“It’s heartening to see our community come together each year to honour this legacy and ensure these stories are remembered by future generations.”

President of the Albury RSL Sub-Branch Graham Docksey said ANZAC Day in Albury continues to bring together people of all ages and backgrounds.

“ANZAC Day in Albury is for everyone, providing an opportunity for first responders and school children to stand alongside veterans from all wars,” Mr Docksey said.

“This year, the Australian Defence Force will lead the march for the first time in many years, followed by the Light Horse troop and a riderless horse recognising animals that served in war.

“National servicemen will lead the veterans’ march, marking 75 years since the scheme began, followed by ex-servicewomen and ex-Army nurses, who are also recognising a significant milestone this year.

“The Dawn Service is always well attended, and it’s important that school children continue to be part of the day’s commemorations.”

To support the commemorations, there will be traffic and parking changes in place across the city. Dean Street will be closed from Young Street to Creek Street during the ANZAC Day March, and traffic movement and parking on Monument Hill will be restricted throughout the day. Community members are encouraged to plan ahead and allow extra time when travelling.
