Call for artists: Make your mark at Lavington Five Ways
AlburyCity is inviting artists to showcase their creativity at Lavington’s busiest intersection.
A new public artwork commission at Lavington Five Ways, offers the chance for an artist’s vision to be seen by thousands of people every day.
“This project is possible thanks to the generosity of a local philanthropist with a strong commitment to the arts and placemaking,” said AlburyCity Team Leader Cultural Activation, Karyn Ford. “Positioned at such a prominent location, the artwork has the potential to become a defining landmark for Lavington, and one which reflects the character of the area.”
The open call is for local artists and artist teams (two or more) with a connection to the area. AlburyCity is seeking original, durable and accessible designs that express the history, character and spirit of Lavington. The vision is for an artwork that is creative, innovative and bold.
The final work will become a lasting cultural marker, enhancing the streetscape, supporting local creative development and strengthening community identity.
Three shortlisted artists or teams will each receive $1,000 (ex. GST) to develop an Artwork Concept Proposal. Thanks to generously donated funds, the successful artist or team will be awarded a total artwork production fee of $50,000 (ex. GST) to deliver the final work, inclusive of their fee.
Artists are encouraged to propose designs that celebrate local stories, foster a sense of community, and contribute to a safer, more inclusive and walkable environment.
