Get ready to laugh, learn and Life Live in Colour at Albury’s Seniors Festival
The NSW Seniors Festival has officially kicked off in Albury, bringing a vibrant program of activities and events to the region through to 15 March.
With this year’s theme, Live Life in Colour, seniors across our community are invited to embrace opportunities to laugh, sing, dance, learn and explore.
The annual festival hosted by AlburyCity provides a valuable opportunity for seniors to engage with the many social, cultural, educational and recreational activities available in and around our city.
Whether it’s revisiting a long-held passion or stepping outside their comfort zone to try something different, there’s something in the program for everyone.
Albury Mayor Kevin Mack said the festival plays an important role in supporting the wellbeing and social connection of seniors in the community.
“We all know the importance of keeping our minds and bodies active and engaged,” Mayor Mack said.
“The festival is designed to give our seniors a taste of some of the great activities available in our city — whether that’s enjoying a performance, meeting new people, joining a class, or even learning a new skill. It’s about celebrating the contribution seniors make to our community while ensuring they feel supported, connected and inspired.”
Mayor Mack also acknowledged the strong community collaboration behind this year’s program.
“A big thank you to the local groups, organisations and individuals who have helped bring this year’s festival to life. Their efforts have created a diverse and exciting program that truly reflects the spirit and creativity of our community.”
This year’s program features a wide range of mostly free activities catering to varied interests and abilities. Events include fitness and organised sport sessions, card games, choir and musical groups, public art and historical walking tours, technology workshops, cooking demonstrations, dance classes, book clubs, calligraphy workshops, arts and craft sessions, live performances and more.
Seniors, their families and carers are encouraged to explore the program, mark their calendars and take part in as many activities as possible.
The full festival program is available to view on the AlburyCity website. You can also collect a printed copy from Council, the Albury Entertainment Centre, our libraries and community centres.
