Gindaymanha celebrates 10th year as community touch football carnival returns

A milestone year for one of Albury’s exciting youth events is fast approaching, with the 10th annual Gindaymanha Sports Carnival set to take over Bonnie Doon Oval on Wednesday 15 April from 10am - 3pm.

Gindaymanha — meaning “fair play” in Wiradjuri — is a vibrant celebration of sport, teamwork and community spirit. The carnival provides a welcoming and inclusive environment where young people can come together for a friendly round robin touch football competition, stay active and proudly represent their local area.

In the lead-up to the event, participants aged 9–15 have been taking part in free touch football training sessions across the Albury Local Government Area. These sessions have offered a supportive space for players of all experience levels to build skills, grow confidence and form new friendships. With the program almost complete, participants are getting ready to take to the field for the big day.

Albury Mayor Kevin Mack said Gindaymanha continues to be a highlight on the community calendar, bringing young people and families together through sport and connection.

“Gindaymanha is about more than competition — it’s about inclusion, respect and creating positive experiences for our young people,” Mayor Mack said.

“Events like this give young people the chance to build confidence, connect with others and feel a genuine sense of belonging in their community. It’s also a wonderful opportunity to celebrate culture, encourage active lifestyles and bring families together in a positive and supportive environment.”

Beyond the touch footy action, the carnival will feature a range of free entertainment and activities for families, including a live DJ, arts and crafts, dance competitions and jewellery-making workshops.

Gindaymanha 2026 promises a fun-filled day that celebrates community, culture and connection for young people across the region.
