Have your say on Albury’s Community Safety Plan 2026–2031

AlburyCity’s Community Safety Team is leading the development of a Community Safety Plan 2026–2031, setting the direction for how Council can help contribute to a safer city over the next five years.

02 Sep 2025

Councils have a responsibility to ensure their communities are safe places to live, work and play. This includes being responsible for services that contribute to crime prevention such as environmental design, social planning, public space management, community services and the development of safety-related policies.

Albury Mayor Kevin Mack said community input will play a central role in shaping Albury’s approach.

“A safe community is one where people feel comfortable in their homes, in our parks and on our streets. By sharing your ideas, you will help us set the right priorities for the next five years,” Mayor Mack said.

The Community Safety Plan 2026–2031 will:

  • Clarify the roles and responsibilities of Council and key stakeholders in community safety and crime prevention.
  • Raise awareness and provide education that champions safety and participation in community life.
  • Inform the design of public spaces using Crime Prevention Through Environmental Design (CPTED) principles.
  • Strengthen collaborative partnerships for a cohesive approach across the Albury LGA.

As part of the consultation, AlburyCity is asking residents to share their views on safety, social cohesion and crime in the community. The responses will be considered as a key part of Council’s decision-making.

Residents can provide feedback at these community pop-up sessions:

  • Wednesday 3 September (11am–1pm): QEII Square (Dean Street)
  • Friday 12 September (2pm–5pm): Oddies Creek Playspace
  • Saturday 13 September (11am–1pm): Oddies Creek Playspace

Submissions are also open online until 5pm, Wednesday 17 September 2025 at Draft Albury Community Safety Plan | Engaging Albury
