Have Your Say: Shaping the future of East Albury

AlburyCity is inviting the community to share their thoughts on concepts for the new East Albury Precinct Plan, a long-term framework that will help guide growth and development in the neighbourhoods along Borella Road and around the Albury Hospital campus.

11 Nov 2025

Looking ahead over the next 20 years, the plan explores opportunities for new housing, retail, and health related services, alongside improvements to infrastructure, public spaces and transport connections, ensuring East Albury remains a connected, vibrant and inclusive place to live.

This consultation marks the next step towards the final East Albury Precinct Plan, giving residents the opportunity to shape how their neighbourhood will evolve. The feedback gathered at this stage will help refine ideas before the draft plan is prepared for public exhibition in early 2026.

To make it easy for the community to get involved, AlburyCity has launched an online survey on the Engaging Albury website and will host a number of consultation opportunities, including:

  • Online survey: Live until mid-December 2025
  • Community drop-in sessions: Dates to be confirmed – outside East Albury IGA
  • Lauren Jackson Sports Centre: Saturday 6 December, 10am to 1pm

The East Albury Precinct Plan aims to create a shared vision for the community that balances growth with liveability and access, including:

  • Housing diversity: A mix of social, affordable, seniors, key worker and private housing, including medium and higher-density options.
  • Retail and business opportunities: Expanding the local centre and introducing a new mixed-use area to support local jobs and services.
  • Active transport and road improvements: Safer walking, cycling and mobility options, along with intersection upgrades in collaboration with Transport for NSW.
  • Public spaces and wellbeing: Improved access to parks, open spaces and recreation facilities to support social and community outcomes.

Council is also working with Homes NSW to support the gradual renewal of existing older social housing in the area. This includes the delivery of new, modern housing, such as the recently completed 24-unit complex at the corner of East and Alexandra Streets.

“The East Albury Precinct Plan is a long-term vision, but it starts with the community,” said Albury Mayor Kevin Mack. “We want residents to help shape decisions on housing, open space, transport and services, ensuring East Albury continues to grow in a way that benefits everyone.

“This next step is about listening to local voices so we can shape a final plan that reflects what matters most to East Albury residents; housing choice, open spaces, transport connections and a thriving local centre.”

Residents are encouraged to complete the online survey or attend a drop-in session to have their say.
