New Sports Inclusion Coach to lead Sport4All program

AlburyCity and Sport4All are collaborating to strengthen inclusive practices across the city’s sporting landscape, under an exciting 18-month partnership now underway.

23 Oct 2025

Sport4All is a nationwide partnership between the Australian Government, the Australian Sports Commission and Get Skilled Access, the consultancy of Dylan Alcott AO. The program supports councils, clubs and schools to build environments where everyone, regardless of ability, can participate, belong and thrive.

The partnership has recently seen the appointment of Marnie Shannon as the city’s new Sports Inclusion Coach, joining the national Sport4All initiative to help make local sport more inclusive and accessible for people of all abilities.

Over the next 18 months, Marnie will work with schools, sporting clubs and community organisations across Albury to deliver practical training, mentoring, and resources that make inclusion part of everyday sport.

Marnie brings a strong background in disability education and community sport, alongside her long-standing involvement in racquetball as a coach and junior program coordinator in Wodonga.

“Sport is for everyone, no matter their ability,” Marnie said. “Inclusion isn’t just access — it’s creating spaces where all abilities are valued and celebrated. I’m excited to work alongside local clubs and schools to remove barriers and make inclusion a natural part of sport in our region.”

Albury Mayor Kevin Mack said Marnie Shannon’s appointment reflects Council’s commitment to an inclusive and connected community.

“Sport plays a powerful role in bringing people together,” Mayor Mack said. “Through the Sport4All program, we’re making sure that everyone in the Albury Local Government Area, including people with disability, has the opportunity to participate, contribute and experience the benefits of local sport.”

The Sport4AAll program will offer:

  • Free resources, training and mentoring for clubs and schools
  • Practical steps to increase participation for people with disability
  • Support to build stronger, more welcoming sporting communities

Local sports clubs and schools are encouraged to connect with Marnie to explore how Sport4All can support their inclusion journey. The partnership will continue until March 2027.
