The Pumphouse turns one with a celebration of creativity

The celebration will showcase the makers, artists and producers who have moulded The Pumphouse into a thriving community space over the past year.

Visitors can expect a day filled with food, music, art and hands-on experiences, including a pottery throw down and stalls featuring locally made jewellery, ceramics, textiles and more. Food and drinks will also be available for purchase.

“The Pumphouse is all about community, collaboration and creativity,” shared Albury Mayor Kevin Mack. “This first birthday is our way of celebrating not just the space, but the people who bring it to life.”

Many of the stallholders are members who have enjoyed working in The Pumphouse’s fully equipped workshop spaces. These shared facilities provide access to professional-grade tools and machines across a variety of artistic disciplines, including ceramics, jewellery making, small sculpture, printing and textile arts.

“This event is our way of opening the doors and inviting everyone in. The creativity on display shows what’s possible when the community has a space to collaborate, and we’d love people to come and be inspired, and take home their own piece of handmade work of art on offer,” explained The Pumphouse coordinator Susan Reid.

You can join in the birthday celebrations from 9am to 2pm on 8 November at 9 Boundary Road, East Albury.

The Pumphouse has a rich heritage, built in 1884 and expanded in 1915 to support Albury’s growing infrastructure. Originally providing water and electricity to the region until 1926, the building played a vital role in the city’s early development.

Today, its distinctive brickwork and industrial features have been carefully preserved, giving a historic backdrop to a modern creative hub where makers, artists and the community come together.
