Safer celebrations: $10 taxi discount for Albury workers this festive season

From 1 December to 24 December 2025, employees attending workplace Christmas functions within the Albury Local Government Area can access a $10 discount on taxi fares home, ensuring everyone gets home safely after a night out.

The initiative was developed following the cessation of the Transport for NSW-funded Arrive Home Safely program. This aimed to promote responsible celebrations, reduce alcohol-related harm, and reinforce the community’s shared commitment to safety and wellbeing.

Albury Mayor Kevin Mack said the program provides a practical way to support community safety during one of the busiest times of the year.

"We want everyone to enjoy their celebrations and get home safely. By partnering with the Albury Liquor Accord, we’re giving local businesses a simple tool to offer their employees safer transport options when the roads are busier and the risks are higher,” said Mayor Mack.

Craig Kidd, Chair of the Albury Liquor Accord, said the initiative demonstrates the benefits of collaboration between Council and local organisations.

"Christmas parties are an important part of workplace culture, but it’s essential they are supported by safe, responsible choices. This discount encourages employees to plan their journey home and avoid risky situations."

How it works:

• The $10 taxi discount is available to employees attending end-of-year celebrations in the Albury LGA.
• Businesses can apply for vouchers via the AlburyCity website, with a limit of 50 vouchers per business to ensure fair access.
• Participating taxi providers will apply the discount directly when the voucher is presented at the time of payment.

AlburyCity and the Albury Liquor Accord are working together to actively promote the Get Home Safe initiative, which complements ongoing community safety and harm-minimisation programs delivered throughout the year.
