World-class motocross and BMX spectacular set for Albury
There’s still time to secure your tickets to one of Albury’s biggest sporting entertainment events of the year, with the Freestyle Kings Live action sports spectacular set to land at Lavington Sports Ground on Saturday 28 February.
Part of a six-country, 50-show world tour, the event will bring elite international athletes, large-scale production, and a significant travelling audience to the region, positioning Albury as a destination for major touring sporting entertainment.
Albury Mayor Kevin Mack said hosting an event of this scale delivers strong economic and community benefits.
“Hosting a major event like Freestyle Kings is a fantastic boost for Albury, supporting local businesses, tourism operators and accommodation providers as visitors travel to our city. It also reinforces that Albury is well equipped to attract and deliver world-class touring events of this calibre,” Mayor Mack said.
The event is expected to generate around $500,000 in economic impact for the region, attracting visitors from across southern New South Wales and North-East Victoria.
Fresh from shows in the US late last year, the team is back on home soil and ready to thrill Albury audiences. The production is headlined by the modern-day Evel Knievel, Robbie Maddison, alongside his sons Kruz and Jagger. Twelve-year-old Jagger has become the youngest person to perform a backflip in an Australian show, repeating the feat he achieved in the US last year.
"The boys and I have been training for this all year. Seeing Kruz and Jagger out there hitting the ramps alongside the world's best, it’s a proud dad moment," shared Robbie Maddison.
Joining the Maddisons is a hand-picked team of elite FMX and BMX athletes from Australia and around the globe, delivering double backflips, front flips, and never-before-seen tricks.
They include 20-time X-Games medallist and current World Champion Rob Adelberg, from North-East Victoria.
"I've ridden all over the globe, from X-Games to world championships, but the atmosphere back home is unmatched. We aren't holding anything back," said Adelberg.
Tickets are on sale now on the Freestyle Kings website.
