Project: Taxiway Alpha Extension

The Taxiway Alpha Extension project represents another strategic step in enhancing the operational capacity of Albury Airport. This project will extend Taxiway Alpha at the western end of the runway, addressing operational challenges and ensuring smoother and more efficient aircraft movements during take-offs and landings.

The extension will also provide critical access to the airport's Western Precinct, a key area for the development of aviation-related businesses and services. This improvement aligns with Albury Airport’s broader infrastructure development strategy, designed to support the region’s growing aviation needs and accommodate future expansion.

Key Benefits of the Project:

  • Operational Efficiency: By reducing the need for aircraft to backtrack, the extension will streamline operations and enhance safety during aircraft movements.
  • Support for Regional Growth: The improved connectivity to the Western Precinct will facilitate the growth of aviation-related industries, strengthening Albury’s position as a regional aviation hub.
  • Alignment with Strategic Goals: As with the Taxiway Charlie Extension, this project builds on the airport’s commitment to maintaining safety, operational efficiency, and future-readiness.

The Taxiway Alpha Extension will play a pivotal role in supporting the airport’s expanding operational precinct, ensuring Albury Airport remains a critical gateway for the region and continues to meet the demands of growing air traffic and associated services.

The $2.88 million project was fully funded by the Australian Government as an identified project under the Albury Wodonga Regional Projects initiative.
